Where have I been?

It has been about a week and a half since I posted. I hope you'll all forgive me as I was sick last week. I didn't even get to enjoy my birthday dinner. So I must have been pretty sick because I normally don't give up food for anything. Mmmmm my Mom's are so good. Sucks that I missed them. Next year. I'm feeling much better. A wee bit tired but that could be from the lack of sleep because Chris has been on this crazy course. For the first 3 days he only got around 6 hours of sleep. Starting at 8am and not getting home till 4 am and then back up at 6am. Yikes! He's still on the course this week and won't be home at all tonight. So he left at 6:30 this morning and I don't know when we'll see him next. I don't know how single parents do it.

Anyway I feel like I have lots to write about seen as I've missed posting. Halloween was good. Quinks was sick and so missed out on trick or treating but did not miss out on the candy. He had a fever on Friday and then by Saturday evening he was running around. I think he was fine with the no trick or treating when we brought candy back for him. Thanks to my dad for watching Quinten so I could still take out Taylor and Spencer. It sucks that Chris missed out. Next year he'll be with us. Taylor was a pirate, Quinten dressed up the day before and he was a vampire, and Spencer was a monkey.

Sad Quinks come trick or treating time.

Spencer wanted his face painted too until I actually put the make up on. He wasn't a big fan.

Some of their stash. Spencer was fast asleep already, probably in a sugar coma.

The halloween howl 10k run was fun. The weather was somewhat yucky and I have been quite the running slacker over the last few months. But we managed to pull off a decent time. The race was the kick in the pants I needed to get running again. You could dress up for the race and I dress up as a patient.

There were a lot of laughs and Roxanne loved watching everybodies reactions. I even heard a couple of ladies say "Oh no we're behind the butt. " And one older man wanted to be behind the butt. Not sure how to take that one. It was fun all around.

As a side little point. Taylor is selling poinsettia's for gymnastics and we have a certain fundraising goal we as parents have to reach. If you would like to help us out by purchasing 1 or some please let me know. They are $12 each and come in red, pink or white. If you are from Edmonton we could figure out how to get them to you.

Anyway because of the being sick I now have a major messy house so off I go to clean up the disaster.

fake butt

A fake butt has been found. Thanks Karen for picking it up for me. Roxanne I hope you're okay to run beside me with a butt hanging out. I'm pretty excited about my costume for the race. Maybe I'm a kid at heart. Not sure how the actually running is going to go seen as I have been quite the slacker in the running department. It'll be fun either way.

Halloween costumes

Does anyone know where I can a fake butt to wear as part of a costume on Saturday? I'm doing a halloween race and dressing up is encouraged. I was thinking I could go as a patient with the gown open at the back with a butt hanging out. I need  my wonder woman costume for the evening so I don't want it to get all sweaty. Although now that I think about it do you think people would be offended by that costume?

I'll leave you with a picture of my 3 lobbsters. Why can't I just get a nice picture of all three at the same time?

I think this was the best one out of a bunch.

Friendship

What does friendship mean to you? Or what defines a friend? I posted this question as my status on facebook yesterday and got quite a few thoughts.

I've been thinking about what being a good friend means.
Here are some of the thoughts that I got:

  • It's when someone is watching your back. Just because they truly care about you.
  • They are interested in your well being at all times. Loyalty.
  • It means they love you unconditionally despite any faults
  • A friend would also tell you the truth even though it may not be what you want to hear. A friend would also be engaged in your conversations, listening and offering opinions when needed, focused on the moment that you are sharing together.
  • true friends are the ones that dont ask alot of questions and just say...if you're happy, Im happy...loyalty, trusting and non-judgmental...and will be there in a heartbeat, despite their busyness...
  • A friend is someone who is there for you, to be honest with you, to laugh with, and cry with, for good and for the not so good. They are your person
  • A friend is someone that is always there for you, no matter what's going on in their life. They listen without judging, love without questioning, and support without asking for anything in return. Someone that you can confide in because you trust them 100%.
  • true friends can sometimes be hard to find. So it is awesome when you find them.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I want to be the best friend I can be to my friends. And I hope that I am. I love all my friends. Old and new.

Yes!

It fits. And I don't think I'll even enhance my *ahem*. (I don't want to make my brothers uncomfortable.) Oh natural baby!

Kind of afraid

I've been putting off the trying on of my Wonder Woman costume. I think I have gained some weight from last year so I'm afraid that it won't fit and I will feel crappy. It's funny how I can be the same weight I've been for a number of years pre-kids, yet clothes so do not fit the same way. And instead of embracing the body that I have now been blessed with, I put myself down. When will I stop that? Perhaps it will take days, months or years, who knows. I do know that I try to overcome these feelings everyday. Some days I feel great and others blah and wish I didn't have a road map on my stomach and what seems to be enough skin to make a tummy pull down blind. Oh and comparing myself to others. Oh the torture. As I write this I can see how ridiculous this sounds. Men must think us women are crazy.

Note to self: We're on the road to self uplifting not self putting down.

So maybe now I'll go try it on. Wish me luck!

The Lobbster Life

With Birthday season comes annual check ups. Everything seems fine. We've never had to get the kids blood taken before with their annual check ups but Quinten has to this time. I forgot to ask why and just assumed that adults get it done so kids must now too. He has been having a number of headaches and diarrha so not sure if that could be part of it. Taylor didn't have to at 4 years. Anyway I like to put the numbers out there. Taylor is 41 and 3/4 pounds and 44 inches, Quinten is 30 and 3/4 pounds and 38 inches and Spencer is 24 and 1/2 pounds and 33 inches.
So everyone is growing just right.

Other than that I don't have much to say or I can't think of much because of the screaming in my ears. Will it ever end?

And I already have someone who wants me to make cupcakes for their son's party in December. I'm pretty excited about it.

Happy Birthday Quinks!

Today is not only a day for us to just celebrate Thanksgiving but to our celebrate our sweet 4 year olds birthday. We are so thankful for Quinten today. He is such a kind hearted, caring, sensitive but also rough and tumble little boy. It's been fun watching him grow up. I find it hard to believe that 4 years have passed since we were rushed into the surgery suite. I love you Quinks! You are very special to us and I hope you feel that way everyday but especially today.

For some reason I am unable to write anything under the pictures. The order is: 1 day old, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years and now 4 years old. He hasn't changed alot in looks but his personality has grown leaps and bounds.
